The film Cinema Paradiso, directed by Giuseppe Tornatore is a heartwarming one, showing the relationship between two developing characters. Toto, a young boy played by Salvatore Cascio sticks around the square of his Sicilian village, while developing a father-son relationship with the towns movie projectionist. The projectionist, Alfredo, played by Philippe Noiret, is the representation of a father figure to Toto, since his father has yet to return from the already ended war. Their budding relationship has many complications, considering the age difference, Toto's mother, and various problems at the cinema. Eventually, Toto grows up, and a love interest is introduced. Elena, the new girl in town, is played by Agnese Nano, who immediately steals Totos heart. Eventually, Alfredo tells Toto to leave and never come back in order to be successful.
This film is romantic and touching, showing the developing relationships between human beings. Though it is rather cheesy, the cinematography is beautiful and the story is very cute.
